The Faculty of Medical Laboratory Technology at Spinghar Institute of Higher Education (Nangarhar) conducted a public awareness and laboratory diagnosis program on Hepatitis.
This program, organized under the collaborative agreement between the institute and the Nangarhar Provincial Education Directorate, was held yesterday, Sunday, (20/01/2025) at Nangarhar High School by a designated team from the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Technology. The event was attended by administrative officials of Nangarhar High School, its teachers, the Vice Chancellor of Students Affairs of the institute, the faculty dean, lecturers, and students from the high school.
On behalf of the host institution, the health committee's head, Mr. Fazal Wahid Fazli, welcomed the attendees and expressed gratitude to the leadership of Spinghar Institute of Higher Education for consistently organizing public awareness programs, free medical consultations and screening campaigns.
The institute’s Vice Chancellor of Students Affairs, Mr. Fazal Rahman Ziarmal, thanked all stakeholders involved in the program, particularly the leadership of the Nangarhar Provincial Education Directorate, the administrative staff of Nangarhar High School, its teachers and students for their active participation. He also shared information about the institute’s services, achievements,and future developments.
In the first segment of the program, the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Technology, Technologist Mohammad Jamil Waseem, conducted an informative seminar, sharing insights into the program's significance and objectives. He covered a range of topics including the definition of the liver and hepatitis, its historical background, causes, types, symptoms, recent statistical data released by the World Health Organization, modes of transmission, diagnosis, and treatment or prevention methods.
The second segment involved laboratory testing, conducted by faculty members including Technologist Zubair Ahmad Shakoor, Technologist Noor Alam Khan Luqmani, Technologist Qudratullah Amani, Technologist Tariq Shinwari and Lab Technician Tawheedullah Yousafzai. Over 100 individuals, including the school’s administrative staff, teaching personnel and students, underwent the HBs Ag test for hepatitis detection. The results were shared with the participants via personalized health cards, and necessary health advice and recommendations were provided based on the test outcomes.
It is worth mentioning that Spinghar Institute of Higher Education (Nangarhar), through its faculties of General Medicine, Dentistry and Medical Laboratory Technology, frequently conducts similar public awareness programs and field campaigns based on community needs. These initiatives have been widely appreciated and welcomed for their contributions to societal well-being and development.
